Rebecca watched the battle from the tree line. She’d thrown a couple of fireballs into the fray, but the witch who seemed to be in charge had looked directly at her after one of them, so she’d stopped and moved. Drawing attention was the worst thing she could do. Even if this fight turned out to be decisive, which she doubted, she couldn’t risk being delayed.

She felt in her bones that the moment was right. Her destiny was at hand. She opened a portal and launched four fireballs in a high arc toward the center of the battle to add to the chaos, then stepped through and let it close behind her. Luciana was waiting. The wolves’ leader asked, “How goes the battle?”

Rebecca smiled. “Very well. Your brothers and sisters might win the day at the coven. Now, let’s go ensure we maintain power over this place for all time.” She opened another rift to connect the staging area and the remaining wolves to the base of Croagh Patrick. She was unable to portal onto the mountain, which had surprised her when she’d discovered it. The guardian spirit apparently still held some power despite her efforts to diminish him by interfering with the connection to Stonehenge. It matters not. Soon, I will control the mountain, and he will be no more.

She charged through and shoved magic into her muscles to keep up with the wolves who rushed up the path leading to her, and their, final objective.
